Best of the Rest

I have already listed my favourite new musicals of 2015 in some detail. Thank goodness that Musical Theatre Review were keen to highlight some of these gems in their commitment to new musical writing. Briefly then, here are the best of the rest - in my view anyway.

MUSICAL REVIVALS
Whistle Down The Wind, Union
The Grand Tour, FInborough
Tommy, Greenwich

NEW PLAYS
The Sum of Us, Above The Stag
Peter Pan, Regent's Park Open Air
Shooting With Light, New Diorama
First Love Is A Revolution, Soho
The Heart of Adrian Lovett, Theatre Delicatessen

PLAY REVIVALS
The First Man, Jermyn Street
Antigone, Theatre Royal Stratford East

CABARET, PANTOMIME
Dillie Keane In Cabaret, Pheasantry
Penny Arcade, Longing Lasts Longer, Soho
Hope Springs, Hippodrome
Tinderella, Above The Stag
Mirror, Mirror, King's Head

BIGGEST SURPRISE
The Sound of Music Live, ITV - I couldn't help but warm to the performances, if the design was a bit plastic in places.

BIGGEST LET DOWN
Kinky Boots, Adelphi - an incomprehensible book and instantly forgettable songs.

EDINBURGH PLAYS - SEE THEM IF YOU GET A CHANCE
Blake Remixed
Euphenigia in Splott
Counting Stars
Pramkicker
Sweet Dreams
What I Learned From Johnny Bevan
This Will End Badly
