The Tease Show
I couldn't help but be impressed by the hoopla surrounding The Tease Show at Koko this week. Immodesty Blaize has come a long way since hoofing it down at the Bethnal Green Working Men's Club. When I first saw her, nearly four years ago, she had created an innovative and edgy, young mix of Burlesque and Cabaret. Each year she has just got better and better and this year’s show looked very promising – event theatre, if you will. In actual Immodesty Blaize appears to have given up. The show was formulaic, and most of the acts were good fun at least, except for the execrable Glitter Bandits, who were truly awful. Shockingly bad and quite frankly, I am not sure how they managed to get the gig. They didn’t fit in to the scheme of things at all. Marc Almond was a revelation and in fact, Blaize was the biggest let down of the lot. She did nothing new. Nothing I hadn’t seen before. Now that the format of her show has been sold to EMI perhaps we might as well call her McBlaize.

No the Glitterbanditz move reasonably well for male dancers but lack any hint of subtlty, glamour or showmanship. The costume looked like they made them themselves - at school. Shabby and, I reiterate, unsuited to the line up.
ReplyDeleteTHE GLITTERBANDITZ REALLY ROCKED THAT NIGHT. THE AUDIENCE REACTION WAS OVERWHELMNG! WHERE YOU AT THE SAME GIG?. THEIR COMEDY TIMING SPOOF SPANDEX COSTUMES, HIGHLY CHOREOGRAPHED ACT WITH ORIGINAL SPOOF 80'S WORK OUT THEME WAS HILERIOUS THE WHOLE ROOM WAS IN FITS OF LAUGHTER. ALSO YOUR WRONG THEY WERE PERFCT FOR THE LINE UP OFFERING LIGHT RELIEF IN BETWEEN THE MORE SERIOUS BURLESQUE MOMENTS. CHECK OUT WWW.MYSPACE,COM/GLITTERBANDITZOFFICIAL
